Storefront design

The front end is part of the migration, not a project after it.

Migration tools move records. The store your customers actually look at is the agency half of a replatform, and most providers leave it out. We design and build it in the same engagement, on the same fixed price, whether you want the old design reproduced exactly or replaced entirely.

The first question we ask

Pixel-perfect, a facelift, or a complete redesign?

It is the first question we ask, because it sets the shape of everything after it. There is no house answer. If the current design is working, we say so and rebuild it faithfully. If it is holding the store back, we say that too, and show you what else it could be. All three routes land on Horizon, Shopify’s flagship theme, so the store stays upgradeable whichever one you pick.

Route 01

Pixel-perfect

The new store is indistinguishable from the old one, down to the spacing. Right when your customers know the design, or when you want one variable changed at a time. Underneath it is a current Shopify theme, so it is faster and maintainable, but it still looks like yours.

  • Same look
  • New foundations
Route 02

A facelift

The same structure, better executed. Typography, spacing, color, photography, product pages and navigation reworked, while the shape of the site your customers already know stays where it is. The usual choice when the brand is fine and the build has aged.

  • Keeps the map
  • Modern build
Route 03

A complete redesign

A new storefront, designed as a prototype you can click through before a line of Liquid is written, then built on Horizon with the platform doing as much of the work as it can. Right when the catalog has outgrown the site, or the brand has moved on and the store has not.

  • Prototype first
  • Horizon
  • Upgradeable

Why prototype first

You approve the storefront before we write a line of Liquid.

A facelift or a redesign starts as a self-contained, clickable prototype on our own preview server: home, collections, product pages, cart. Real copy, real products where we have them, real interactions. Changes are cheap there and expensive later. Once you sign it off we build it on Horizon, using native sections and blocks wherever the theme already does the job, so future theme updates do not undo the work.

Horizon

Shopify’s flagship theme, used properly.

Two-row headers, sticky add-to-cart, native color swatches, hide-on-scroll navigation and the half-and-half product layout are all built in. We know which settings do what, which ones fight each other, and where a small custom section is genuinely needed.

Why Horizon over Dawn

What the storefront work covers

Every page type, not just the home page.

A storefront is judged on the templates nobody demos: the collection page with 400 products in it, the variant picker on a product with six options, the empty search result. These are where a migration is felt.

Product pages

Media gallery, variant and option pickers, swatches, quantity rules, bundles, subscriptions and the specification blocks a technical catalog needs. Built on the half-and-half layout so the details column is readable.

Collections & navigation

Category structure rebuilt as collections, automated where rules can do the work, plus the mega menu, breadcrumbs and the merchandising order you had before.

Search & filters

Filters rebuilt from the facets your old store served, so customers narrow a catalog the same way they used to. Search tuned to find SKUs, not just titles.

Cart & checkout

Cart drawer, shipping messaging, gift options and, on Plus, checkout branding and UI extensions. Nothing bolted on that the platform already does.

Content & brand

Home page, about, policies, blog and landing pages carried across and laid out properly, with typography, spacing and color set as a system rather than page by page.

Speed & accessibility

Images served as WebP at the right sizes, fonts self-hosted, contrast and focus states checked. Measured on the rendered storefront, logged out, not in a lab.

Priced inside the migration

The storefront is quoted with the data, the apps and the integrations as one fixed price after the audit. Standard terms are 50% to begin and 50% once the store is live and you are fully satisfied with the figures, and because we build in a free Shopify development store as a Plus Partner, you pay Shopify nothing until launch.

Not migrating?

The same work, from nothing.

New brands and brands starting over get the identical process without the data half: architecture, prototype, Horizon build, integrations, training, launch.
